Air to water heat pumps (AWHP) extract heat from the outside air and produce hot water. They can be used as replacement systems for existing commercial oil (or gas) boilers. Heat pumps work most efficiently when heating water to a lower temperature than may be expected from a typical boiler, hence they are normally coupled with heating systems that require relatively low operating temperatures, such as under-floor heating.
There are systems available that can integrate with conventional radiator systems, although the radiator size may need to be increased.
Air to water heat pumps have been successfully implemented in commercial settings by FWP. Click here to read about Carluccios restaurant and the savings we achieved for them.
